Varekai: Cirque Du Soleil invades Manila for the first time!

We were on a long ride to Cagayan de Oro City for the last blow of our publication when I accidentally picked a rectangular plastic inside my bag. The bus was freezing and i am in search for a jacket. The night was calm and the road was empty except for some private cars and buses travelling during wee hours. It was a scary trip and i can't help but cover the windows for fear of nocturnal armed men who wished to distract my royal journey.

My fingers were onced again glued to the rectangular plastic. I was trying to figure it out without taking it out but am still clueless. So i checked and lo! It was my fave DVD. Cirque du Soleil's Varekai was with me!

Without further a do, I asked the driver's assistant if we could play my DVD instead of some old pinoy blackbuster and told him he will be an enemy if he won't be obliging! LOL

And of course, he obliged! Then the show kicked off!

All passengers aboard woke up! The lively music and the exotic sound caught their tired souls! The stunning acts and the extraordinaire stunts keeps them awake along the course of our travel. And they keep on asking who the hell are they? Referring to the talented Cirque du Soleil!

I keep my mouth shut! It would be too ardous to explain who and where Cirque du Soleil was! But i told them it's the world's greateast performer!

They were stunned! Petrified and amazed!

And i was snoring on my seat. They didn't know, I was afraid of sleeping without someone awake for me especially on that grumpy ride some 8 years ago!

Now it 2011!

My Varekai experience was refreshed when I was on my way for work yesterday. A huge billboard cast a spell on me! It was the very same show I watched 8 years ago on that long ride to CDO. And they are here for the first time!

I have been dreaming, to see them personally and to have a glimpse of Cirque du Soleil whose shows were crowd favorites in the strip of Las Vegas!

The team will be here from June 11 to July 11, 2011. "Varekai: Cirque Du Soleil", written and directed by Dominic Champagne, will have performances at the Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) at the Rizal Park across Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

The cast will be composed of 1,300 multiracial artists and some 5,000 employees of the Quebec-based organization Cirque Du Soleil who will showcase their colorful and agile movements in dance, skits and stunts accompanied by innovative music and otherworldly set designs.

And today, I will start saving money for that big event at least a gift for my birthday!
