From December 5th to 7th, a vibrant celebration of creativity swept through the heartlands of Western Mindanao as part of the FiestaKucha, a nationwide creative initiative orchestrated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The ZamPen Creatives Caravan, an integral segment of this movement, unfolded its transformative journey across two major cities in two distinct provinces, leaving an indelible mark on the region's artistic landscape. Dipolog City played host to the talents and visionaries hailing from Zamboanga del Norte, while Pagadian City warmly welcomed the creative souls from Zamboanga del Sur.
Spearheaded by Regional Director Al-Jamir Lipae and Assistant Regional Director Maridel Dingal, the caravan became a catalyst for profound change and empowerment for the burgeoning creative community in these provinces.
The spirited gathering in Dipolog City saw the convergence of creative minds, with notable guests, including Provincial Director Ling and her team, shedding light on crucial topics such as intellectual property rights and the government's unwavering support for creatives. My task was to deliver an enlightening briefing on PCIDA or RA 11904. We also conducted a comprehensive workshop focused on mapping and planning across nine major domains covered by the Philippine Creative Industries Act, providing a roadmap for sustainable growth and development within the creative sector.
Meanwhile, in Pagadian City, Provincial Director Marlon Alabata led a dynamic team alongside local creatives. I was tasked to facilitate a masterclass on "The Business of Creativity and Design Innovation," emphasizing the pivotal role of impactful designs and innovations in fostering community development. The session delved into strategies for harnessing creativity and transforming it into a profitable venture, aligning with the agenda of leveraging creativity for economic advancement.
The ZamPen Creatives Caravan wasn't merely an event; it was a catalyst for change, igniting a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship among the creative talents of Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur. It bolstered the understanding of the immense potential within the Philippine creative industry, paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous future.
As the echoes of this caravan resonate, it's evident that the seeds of inspiration sown during these vibrant gatherings will continue to flourish, driving the region's creatives towards greater heights of success and impact.
The FiestaKucha, with its ZamPen Creatives Caravan, stands as a testament to the transformative power of unity, creativity, and collective empowerment—a beacon lighting the path towards a thriving creative economy in Western Mindanao.
