From the majestic Fort Santiago to the serene ambiance of San Agustin Church, Intramuros was a feast for the eyes. But what made this sidetrip even more memorable was our food adventure. We sampled traditional Filipino snacks from local vendors, each bite offering a taste of Manila’s rich culinary heritage. Kevin and Kalokal, both passionate about discovering and promoting local flavors, were just as excited as we were to dive into this culinary journey. It was a perfect way to unwind, share stories, and celebrate the success of our IFEX experience.
Our exploration continued in Binondo, the world’s oldest Chinatown, where the fusion of Filipino and Chinese cultures comes alive through food. The vibrant streets were lined with eateries offering everything from dim sum to the famous hopia and tikoy. We couldn’t resist indulging in a food crawl, guided by Kalokal’s insider tips. Each stop introduced us to a new flavor, from savory dumplings to sweet pastries, all while soaking in the lively atmosphere that Binondo is known for. This short but fulfilling sidetrip not only satisfied our taste buds but also deepened our appreciation for the rich and diverse culinary landscape of Manila.
